SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for conducting and documenting a variety of HR investigations that may come through sources such as the IDR process, executive letters, ethics complaints, escalated Employee Relations hotline calls or exit interview triggers. The incumbent would work in partnership with the respective Employee Relations Director, Human Resources generalist (HRG), Employment Law and Internal Investigations throughout the investigation process as appropriate.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Investigates complaints or allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, ethics violations, hostile work environment, unfair treatment and violation of company policies (many investigations are conducted under privilege).
Prepares clear, comprehensive and cohesive investigative reports in a timely manner and makes recommendation for resolution based on supporting facts and evidence.
Develops relationships with, and coordinates relevant investigations with business partners and colleagues.
May conduct training on a variety of Employee Relations topics including sexual harassment, union awareness, FMLA, FLSA, etc..
May participate or lead environmental scans or sensing sessions.
Support other Employee Relations initiatives such as policy modification, workforce trends (internally and externally), best practices, etc. as needed.
EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:
College degree in related course of study or equivalent work experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of Employee Relations or Human Resources (HR) experience with an emphasis in conducting HR investigations.
Strong knowledge of HR trends and relevant labor laws.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex situations that may involve high amounts of controversy.
Strong consulting and influencing skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Strong written and oral communication skills.
OTHER:
Extensive travel may be required (approximately 50%), sometimes on very short notice.
